Did you know that Cobra’s were horrible on gas? According to my neighbor they are. I was outside washing my car when he walks out and says, “Did you just buy that?” Being nice I replied, “yes.” “I wouldn’t have bought one of those, Cobra’s are horrible on gas you know” he replied back. I kindly replied, “they aren’t that bad.” I was going to be a jerk about it and tell him that if I were worried about gas mileage I would drive a Focus like my wife. But it’s the holidays and there were kids around.

Horrible huh? I would love for him to explain how my 280rwhp cobra with 4.10 gears that runs 3100rpm at 80mph still gets on average 25mpg on the freeway. I'd say thats pretty frickin good, seeing as it runs low 13's at the track.

con sarnit, and my 2.8L V6 only gets 18...

lol people assume just b/c its an american V8 mileage is bad. but as you can see, depending on the maturity of the driver and the lack of lead in his/her foot, great mileage is possible

scott, based on ur mods.. i find 25mpg AMAZING

aaron, wats yours averaging?

What USNavyMustang failed to mention was that the neighbor later hopped into his Escalade with 22 inch rims.

Back to topic......that was a dumb statement. People don't buy Cobra's to SAVE on gas(regardless of the mileage rate). Just like people don't drive Mustangs to lower their insurance rate(regardless of what they pay).

You should have said 'I was gonna get a Prius, but I figured I can walk faster.'

You should have called him a JERK and forgot about the holidays. A COBRA is a COBRA, not a Civic, Focus, Cobalt, etc, etc.....
If he only knew the POWER............

The funny thing is he is a "good ol boy" who drives a Jeep Wrangler as his daily driver (last I checked they aren't too good on gas). Now I am a "good ol boy" too, but I am the kind that grew up watching shows like The Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider. Growing up I thought all cars were ment to go FAST!! Honestly fuel economy isn't in my vocabulary. Arin, I really couldn’t tell you what kind of mileage I get. I never paid attention.... been too busy putting my lead foot to use.
