New Guy Who Needs Advice
Hello everyone, I am new here.
I have an '04 GT (40th anniv. edition), and I'm beginning the arduous task of modifying it. I have already installed the Magnaflow cat-back, and have just received the Magnaflow X-pipe. It looks difficult, however, to install, and I'd like some advice. For example, will ramps provide enough clearance to install it, or do I need to find another way to lift the car? also, are there any special tools I'll need?
P.S. I've now seen 5 spec. edition 'stangs (not including mine), and I've yet to see one who's striping or wheels matches the gold-ish color from the publicity photos online. Mine look more silver-like than any other color.

You can do it on ramps. It is not as easy as doing it on a lift. I have done an x-pipe install on a set of jackstands before. Just get the car up as high as you possibly can and it still be safe to be under.
some places will even do it cheaper than that. but its almost worth it to keep your back from hurting for days.
I did my magnas in my gravel driveway with ramps last summer at night...yeah it hugged, lol. Install is actually simple. When up on ramps you will have to use a floor jack to lift up the body in the rear a bit in order to get the new pipes over the axle. At least that's how I had to do it. If you can find a place to do it cheap I would suggest it.
Flip through the yellow pages, sometimes you can find places that rent out service bays for a couple of bucks an hour.
One place I went to by my house charged a fair price and also included the use of airtools, etc. That would help your install significantly.

oooh, good idea. I'd love to use a lift. People who have lifts are lucky. That's a good idea, Galaxie.

even better, if you live near a military base/post and know somwone who works there they might have a Do It Yourself type auto shop you can use. They have bays with lifts they rent out for like $3 an hour.
