Ok here is my idea I was going to build up my 4.6 2v but have been looking into it and knew it was going to take alot of money but didn't just really know how much. After adding everything up it was way more than what I wanted to spend so now I am tossing around the thought of swaping my motor for a 01 cobra motor any suggestions or pros and cons thanks an advance for anything written

 

Definitely a big improvement over the 2 valve, but the other thing to think about is if you swap in the Cobra engine and want to start modding again, it's even more expensive for the 4 valve engines. Best bet IMO if you want to go the engine swap route is either to get an 05-10 3 valve or the new 5.0.

Or if you want to stick with your engine you could go the supercharger route, just can't go too crazy on boost without building the bottom end.

 

Do you have any idea what the internals of the 01 cobra motor is rated at

 

I don't know about the 01's, I know that the 96-98's were not forged so supercharging was a risky route. If I had to guess I would say the 01's internals were similar, but hopefully someone else who knows for sure will chime in.

 

I'm not sure bout 01's but you could try find an 03. I've seen plenty of 03 cobra motors run in 700+ hp/ ft lbs on the stock forged internals. When in doubt, google it!

 

Best bet if you go the 4 valve route for sure! Although they have the cast iron block, the internals are good for A LOT of power.

 

If u go to late model restoration they have plenty of crate motors. Even the ford racing "Aluminator" block

 

99-02 cobra bottom ends are very similar to the 96-98. Cast crank and powered metal rods. If you go to the supercharger/turbo route stay under 10#'s of boost and you should be fine
