MAC Cold Air Intake?
The price ranges are about the same for a MAC CAI as the K&N FIPK. The K&N Intake says you can get about 10 HP from it. The K&N also seems really easy to install. What would be better to get. I am looking for better HP and both of these products are the same price. Has anyone had any experience with any of these products.
I personally dont like the MAC or the K&N. I am currently running the C&L trueflow inlet pipe with an open air filter on my stock Maf. Its been a great setup. The C&L Trueflow pipe is a thicker metal than the MAC and it acctually stays fairly cool. The Mac's thinner metal seems to absorb more heat and heats up really quick and stays hot.
If I were to use something else, i'd probably check out the Densecharger CAI system.
Here is a pic of the pipe I have, the GT pipe is the same as far as material and design, just shaped properly to fit the SOHC motor. I also hardly ever run with the heat sheild over the K&N filter. I have no noticed any performance different by doing this.

cool, didnt even remeber them. hey scott. think a 98 cobra w/ 24k for 13,300 if i can get them down from 14k is a good deal? i would love an 03-04 but i really want to get an 07 cobra. i know you are biased and will give me good advice about the 96-98 snakes
96-98 snakes are awesome! Gorgeous looking engine (if only we had the 99/01 coil pack covers). You get a live axle, tons of parts out available for them. They are great n/a, but really wake up under boost/nitrous (i know this for a fact). The only downfall I see to the 96-98's is in n/a, they make the power so high in the rpm range, you will get taken by alot of GT's and other better torque producing cars. They really shine on the top end about 5,000 rpm. A good set of gears (4.10's or higher) really wake the powerband up. 13,300 isnt a bad price for a car with that few miles. I'd try and get it closer to 12k personally though.
now that I look though, KBB.com list suggested retail on the car at $14,860, so $13,300 maybe a great price. Trade in is 10,500 though so i'd guess anywhere from 12k-13k should be good
thanks scott. gonna go take a look at it this morning. he has a set of the 18in chrome saleen wheels on there. but he wants more with those than the stock wheels. ill see what he says. im hoping he has done the gears and exhaust already. that would be nice.
personally, buying a used car, i want it stock so i know exactly what has been done. If it isnt, make sure you find out EVERY lil mod done and if its gears, find out how he has the speedometer recalibrated.. etcc...
