Hello Everybody

Just figured I would introduce myself and see what kind of people are in here. I am already of the www.escape-central.com (stauntonescape) and they are very helpful over there with any problems and questions I have concerning my Escape. I am hoping the same is true here with my new stang! I have never owned a "sports" car before so I probably need to learn a few things. I have a in-fender cold air induction kit and flowmaster exhaust but other than that I believe the car is pretty much stock (except for tinted windows all the way around.) My girlfriend (technically I bought the car for her, although if it was truely her car she would have bought the 6 cyl. auto eeeck) would like to have leather seats. Has anyone been successful in finding a quality set of leather seats at a junkyard or will i have to pay 700 bucks for a set of leather seat covers?

Well, again I say hello and I hope you all can give me some ideas! :worship:

Derek

welcome, to the site. If you arent dead set on leather, check e-bay and look up 350z seats. There are some cheap Nismo seats that are like 300 bucks and they are awesome. I lvoe the stock 350z seats but these are just as good. With the universal sliders, you will be able to use them in your 97 as well.

is the car an auto or 5-speed?

Welcome to the site. I put March Underdrive Pulleys on mine and that made a nice difference. If you don't already have them, put on some nice springs to lower it, I have the Eibach Pro Kit. They ride nice and look alot better. I just bought some gray leather 2002 GT seats off of ebay for $350 and with shipping it came out to $500 bucks, I'm going to install them myself (hopefully) when they get here. I looked for black leather seats and because they are black they always cost more. What color is your interior? Post some pictures when you can. Nice to have another 97GT around. I'll list what I've done.

MAC Cold Air Intake
MAC 70mm Throttle Body
March Underdrive Pulleys
Flowmaster Force II Catback
Eibach Springs
Energy Suspension Rear Bushing Kit
Tokico 5 way adjustable rear shocks

Future Mods:
X-pipe (still figuring out which one I want)
4.10 gears

Sorry I should have been more specific. Its a manual tranny and yes she is really wanting some leather type seat. I have black/grey interior...looks really sharp IMO.

I have the black/grey interior also. That's why I was fine with either color. Every time I saw seats in black and no matter what year they were they would go for at least a couple hundred more then the black. I went with the grey 2002s. If I don't like the look later on I'll get some custom leather replacement covers. I hate my cloth seats, ugliest material I've seen.

Welcome and Congrats!
I also have a 97GT which is my daily driver since brand new and I love it.
While I would also love to buy a new 05, I'm still in love with my 97.

Deep violet
Black leather
Mach 460

NO mods and none planned. (I sink my limited funds into the vintage stangs, they are money pits!)

If I were to mod at all, I'd begin with 3.73 gears though.
