Importing a GT to Holland..
#1
Hello there!
I'm thinking of importing a car to Holland from the US.
But what is a good price for a used car?
I'm thinking of a white '95, '96, '97 Mustang GT with light leather interrior,
and fully equipped.. and not more then 100.000 miles on the clock.
Anyone got an idea? because i'm in Holland and can't see what i'm buying :drive: :usa:
Rien..
This is my current V6 ,

good luck with your search. sites like kbb.com and edmunds.com are good for giving you a general idea of the price range you are looking at. of course it depends on whether you get the car from a private seller or a dealership too. i wouldnt think a 95-97 gt would be too expensive...probably somewhere around $5000-$7000 depending on mileage.
one important note is that the 95 is the last year of the 5.0 motor. so if you really want that then you should look at the 95's. the 96+ are the 4.6 v8.

There are a lot of different cars on KKB (great site)
How are prices in the USA.? In Holland if i buy a car i can have a little talk with the seller and make a nice price, does this also work in America or are these prices uhhhm (how to say ) the lowest they go?..

Hey rhazer, glad to see you are shopping for a mustang...makes me proud. But back on topic. I would think for the most part anything is negotiable and can be bargained just as long as the price doesn't insult the seller.
Example that I would do. If I want to buy from a private owner and the price is at $7000 for a 96 fully equiped GT with 80,000 miles and in good condition I would offer about $6000 or so. But that offer varies depending on the buyer. If anything prices are higher then usual cause sellers plan for negotiations. I know I would if I was selling. They know the car is only worth $6700 so they bump up the price to prepare for the buyers offering price.
Let us know what you find and the info on it and where it is located. Someone on the forum may be close enough to go look at it maybe. My zip code is 35173
Good luck
Jay

There is always room for some negotiation.....however I would highly suggest you not buy sight unseen. If you could get someone over here that you could trust to check a car out for you prior to buying then you would be better off. I have done this for a few people out of state since I have a shop....a good mechanical and body inspection should be a must. You don't want any surprises when you get it over there. You should not have any trouble finding mustang enthusiasts around the US that would be willing to help you out and check out a car for you.

Rien where in Holland are you from? I was stationed at Soesterburg Air Base when the base still had Americans there. I lived in Soest and still keep in touch with friends in Amersfoort. I tried to find the Mustang Club of Holland while I lived there but the military always had me going to other places.
Anyway, enough remembering of how I liked living there. There are plenty of mustangs for sale here and if you see anything in North Carolina, I might be able to look at them for you if it's close by. Let me know what you find. My zip code is 27530.

Thaks alot for the help everyone!
@ GoofNoff: i live in Rotterdam, that's about 70 miles from Soest,
The Dutch Mustangclub is the second biggest club in the world!
Guess wo's #1????
@ scottie1113: i don't know yet how to get the car to Holland but what i do know is that the shIpping costs €1250 (about $1500)
And once in Holland i have to pay taxes for importing, this is 10% of the new price of the year the car came from.
So if i buy a car in the USA for $6000, then i pay $1500 for the shipping and 10% of the new price that's 10% of 30.000.
So the car then cost me 6000 + 1500 + 3000 = 10.500
That´s why i don´t want a car too expensive
