How Best to Drive A Terminator?
Newbie question, please don't flame....thinking about buying a 04" Cobra until the 07" comes out. I have never driven a supercharged car before and am looking for some info/tips so I get the most out of it without messing anything up. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
When you first get in the car, go easy on it, get used to the brake/clutch/throttle before you ever take it up past 3,000. Shift it easy at first and progressivly (after you feel comfy) then start to open it up some. The first time you get on the gas, make sure its a fairly long straight, and roll into the throttle, dont just stab it.
I dont know how it could damage the s/c or anything for that matter.
On the freeway, i'd probably do about 60-65 and have it in 4th. and roll into it the first time and repeat, possibly hitting hte throttle quicker. That should give you a good feel of the car.
if you want to really check it out find a backroad with a good long straight, do about 20 in 2nd and nail it.

If you get one, save enough pennies for a Borla Stinger catback. No need for any other mods. The beast is loose with one of those babies and will give you the driving experience of your lifetime.

You should have no problems with the SC from getting on it down low. Remember, the roots style SC was developed for increasing down low power. The worst for it is spinning it too fast. When you first drive that car you will think it has more power than it needs, next thing you know you are changing pulleys and such to get more! I love it when they are fun, beautiful, and fast.
Is it immediate and progressive power on demand, or, does it have enough of a lag that you may be surprised by the 'beast", and find yourself in a world of trouble during cornering ......AKA 79 Porshe turbo?
It happens right away, no lag (like a turbo). The thing that will surprise you is how quick the RPMs will head for the 6700 RPM redline.
When you add a few things the torque (which is what you feel when step in it) will get to over 450 RWTQ @ 2500 RPMs or less. The problem you have then is keeping the tires from spinning when you get in it.

Floor it, shift at redline and remember it is all under warranty and it is the strongest motor Ford has for sale to the public besides the lightning motor. Here is a tip- Remove the air box and it will add around 12 rwhp and u will end up with 394 rwhp or so with a stock car.
When Muscle Mustang and fast fords (The Best Magazine EVER!) tested the 03 cobra against the 02 Camaro they dynod both of em and started iwth 382 rwhp on the cobra and ripped off the air box to up the power to 394 rwhp. Remember the 03 cobra is underrated, it really has roughly 425 horse

I'm not so sure the air box takes 12 hp from an engine, and anyway, you don't have anywhere near 382 RWhp to start with
wish it did though

Thnaks Scott. A friend was telling me that at highway speeds, if you get on it a low RPM's you may damage the supercharger? Downshift first to increase the RPM's and than hit it?

I would down shift to bring the rpms up because with rpm comes more power. Whoever told u it would damage the blower by not downshiftin is full of BS
When you get it bring it to me I will test it out for ya. Ha ha. Anyway if you have never driven one then take it easy. Dont baby the car though. It is a misconception that you have to break a motor in easy. Drive it like you stole it was my motto on every car I have ever bought. My 02gt was at the dragstrip the weekend I bought it with the dealer tag. These cars will flat out roll plain and simple.
