I'm having a problem closing the hood on my 00 GT. Anyone else have/had this problem? I know this was a problem for like 96-98, but not sure on the 00.

The latch itself locks, when just using my fingers. However when I am applying pressure to the hood there is no "click."

I guess to get to be a little more specific the part that points at 12 o'clock position when pressed with my fingers locks at 3 o'clock position. But when pushing the hood the lock only goes to the 2 o'clock position. <---- Yea I know.

Is it my latch? Hood? Am I not closing it properly?

Any aftermarket stores that sell 00 hood latches? Thanks.

Not sure exactly what is going on, but i know on just about every mustang from 94-04 I have looked at, i've had to drop the hood from about 12in up almost in a slamming motion to get it to latch good. Just closing it and pushing down on it to latch never would.

Try spraying a little WD-40 or something similar on the latch.

This isn't my hood, but I'll use it to explain. The part that the blue arrow is pointing to is a "U" shaped piece of metal. When locked it should be pointed in a "C" shape.

When I slammed/dropped the hood the red arrow was missing the hole, it was hitting the hood. OUCH!

I fixed the problem.........ironically I used all of your solutions......prior to reading them. I WD-40'd the latch. I tried to make sure that the "red arrow" part wasn't going to miss the hole. I lifted slightly above 12 inches, and dropped it.

It worked........I'm glad I didn't try to remove and reposition the latch like everyone else at work told me too.
