Engine noise (ticking sound)
hello hopping you guys can help to find out what is happening. i just replace belt tensioner pulley and delete the upper idler pulley (i had to do that because alloy threads were scrubbed, also replace for smaller belt)
the sound is harder at idle and when rev up the ticking noise is not noticeable
any idea?

Check your spark plugs. I had a ticking noise on my lightning and blew out a loosw plug. My friend just told me about a ticking noise yesterday on there mustang. And the plug blew out later that day.

Update, the noise has increased ( not too much) I just remember that the sound just stared the day that I replaced the stock mufflers whit the SLP LM2, should in relate that?
no smoke, MPG are normal, no power loss. the car runs perfect, someone has any idea?

Ditto same deal with my 97 GT, it hasn't cased any mechanical problems though. I think the plastic valve cover has gotten loose with age

It's weird when I put my hand on the valve cover it stops making the noise. I had a friend who is a mechanic look at it and he said its fine, just the plastic cover warping with age. It has been doing this for a couple years now with no issue besides the noise at idle

I was considering to change the 5W30 for a 10W30 to see if that would help to reduce the noise considering that the oil change is soon
Do you guys think that helps?!

5W is probably a little thin to use in the summer, but won't hurt anything.
