MY 1998 MUSTANG HAS RECENTLEY BEEN SETTING CODE 0304
MISFIRE IN CYL. #4. I HAVE REPLACE THE PUGS BUT NOTHING
ELSE. THE CAR IS STOCK 4.6 2V IT HAS BEEN IDLEING ROUGH
BUT SEEMS TO BE INTERMITTENT. THE POWER HAS DEFINETLEY
DECREASED AND ALMOST SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE SOMEONE IS
TIED TO MY BUMPER WITH THERE BRAKES ON WHEN I TRY TO
ACCELERATE.
I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 1998 F150 4.6 LITER
I REPLACED PLUGS AND WIRES, WICH DID NOTHING TO STOP
THE CODE 0308 CYL. #8 MISFIRE WHICH WOULD THEN SET THE
O2 SENSOR CODE, SAME BANK, FIRST O2 SENSOR. SO THEN I
REPLACE THE COIL PACK WHICH SEEMED TO HELP AND THEN I
REPLACED THE O2 SENSOR,WHICH ALSO SEEMED TO HELP, BUT
I STILL AM GETTING THE SAME CODES 0308 & 0153

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY IM HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND WHY
OR HOW IT CAN BE INTERMITTENT LIKE IT IS?

THANKS, STEVE SMITH

Sounds like a coil pack has gone bad. I've replaced four on my '01. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I had a misfire #7 problem and it turned out to be a broken piston...

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=21303

I hope it's not a broken piston, but if it is...

I drove 120 miles on the new motor and someone rear-ended me totaling the car. I have the engine listed in the classifieds or you can PM me. I'm not using the motor because I purchased a new Cobra with only 10K miles on it.

Best of luck and I hope that it is NOT your piston. I just worry because I had similar code readings. First, it was just the misfire. Then it started throwing several other codes like O2 sensor.

You may want to take it to a shop and have them put a scope down there. I spent a ton of money on mine replacing things that weren't causing the problem and eventually took it to a shop.
