Well guys....I'm been reading these forums for over a year....I grew up around classic Mustangs because of my Dad. Over the years I've dreamed of having one, but have never owned one. Until today my car was a 1996 Nissan Altima with 165k on it. Well...South Florida got hit by some crazy rain yesterday and on the way home I was in about 1ft of water...after I got out of it my transmission took a crap. The car still starts, but doesn't want to shift (auto) into 2nd gear until way too late and then when it does shift it jerks the car hard. I think the tranny is shot...I've had this car for 6.5 years and it's been paid off for a while now. Because I'm starting a new career (left the IT field and I'm starting school on Monday to be a Firefighter/Paramedic) I deceided to drive it until it died. Well....R.I.P!!

I was hoping the car would last me until I got placed as a Firefighter then I was going to buy a used 05 GT, but I need a car now. So that leads me to this forum. I want to get a 99-02 GT 5SPD. I would like a convertible, but I'll get a coupe if I find a great deal. I don't want to spend more than $13k...I'm here for your experience/expertise and any advice.
