Clutch advice please?

I'm looking at doing a king cobra clutch from http://m.uprproducts.com/mustang-kin...l-package.html - and also a fidanza aluminum flywheel on my 95 cobra...it's full bolt on with 3.73 and fms driveshaft and all I really plan on doing next is a cam with springs and push rods over the winter...goal is to break 300rwhp eventually but no rush....this clutch and flywheel be a good set up? Mind you I am on a budget lol

As long as you like a stiff clutch. King cobra clutches are a good clutch, but they are probably one of the stiffest out there. So as long as you don't mind a stiff clutch, I say go for it.

I'm not a fan of upr. Thier 3 hook quad is awful and the cable is junk also. For a clutch quad kit look at Maximum motorsports or steeda. I would check out American muscle if the king cobra is want you want, 50resto has Ram which is also a very good clutch and would use it. I would look at summit racing also for parts and a flywheel, for a street car or very, very lite track use a steel flywheel is fine imo but nothing wrong with a lighter fly once you get used to it.

Well the clutch kit is only 250 so that's why I was really interested and the power rating it has and I was looking at the aluminum flywheel because I'm hearing about how an aluminum flywheel and driveshaft can free up a decent amount of horses in the drivetrain and I aready have the fms driveshaft...is aluminum bad for a dd?

It knocks down some of the rotational mass but it doesn't free up bunch of hp. I run a FRPP ds myself. I'm not knocking the flywheel, you said you where on a budget, for a car that is mostly street imo it isn't a must do. the cam itself will be a better improvement but since you are in there and if have the cash then go for it. It will not have any negative effect for daily but I would also look into a billet steel one.

Ram is a great clutch and rated to handle what you need and more.

I'll give my opinions:

Ram heavy duty clutch kit from 50 resto $199 free shipping
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...HDX-CLUTCH-KIT

Steeda clutch quad/cable kit also from 50 resto $109 free shipping
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...utch-Cable-Kit

comes to $58 more and with way better parts.

I use the maximum motorsports quad with a fiore fwa and maximums oem cable. really one of the best combos out there and that isn't just coming from me!

then add a billet steel ram fly ( they also make great flywheels)

I'm not going to spend your money. I gave you my advice on parts. Nothing wrong with aluminum fly if you want it get it, if they have free shipping and you trust them go for it fidanza is a very nice fly. 50resto has a top notch rep that i know, so if there is a product problem you will get the help you need.

also keep in mind that summit and jegs will price match, so if you give them the link or website info they will price match the fly ( both of them have the fidanza fly ), free shipping and also great customer service rep.

Best of luck.

Thank you...I think I'm gonna go with the fidanza cause that's what I've been set on and I didn't know about the price match. But I think I'm going with the clutch you showed me because it's a great price and looks like exactly what I need. Thanks for the help

If your new church is going to be stiffer than stock avoid aftermarket cables. I broke three of them with with a Fidanza 4.3 and then I found a stock cable and never had another issue. They are made far superior to any aftermarket cable I have seen.

So if the new clutch is stiffer...don't even mess with the cable just leave it the way it is...? Kinda confused me a lil lol

What he is saying is what I was trying to tell you. The aftermarket clutch cables are really garbage. The best clutch cable for our cable clutches is a Ford cable. This is why I posted this statement:

"I use the maximum motorsports quad with a fiore fwa and maximums oem cable. really one of the best combos out there and that isn't just coming from me!"

Maximum motorsports uses OEM ford cables. I was giving steeda a shout out because I use them has my second pic for a quad setup..again upr imo is awful.

Most aftermarket cables are noisy, stretch very fast and tend to snap. The oem cables last much longer and have a better feel. max5ive0 is just telling you what I or others would tell you, go for the oem cable.

If you like a heavy clutch... Then king Cobra should work well. I just installed a Centerforce dual friction clutch and love it. It's light and grabs great! I also installed a Fidanza aluminum flywheel. I can tell I lost torque during my launch and now require starting at higher RPMs. I plan on getting 3.90 or 4.10 gears to offset this issue... So you may not have an issue with your 3.73s. Steel flywheels are cheaper.... I haven't noticed a huge difference yet in higher RPM performance with aluminum. I've heard that aluminum flywheels may be best for track racing and not drag... And also makes more sense with cars with more horse power. In my opinion... You will be happy with either decision.

Dumb question...just thought about it...would it be dumb to get the flywheel resurfaced or maybe even just replace it with stock?

if your not going to replace it, then yes, you have to get it resurfaced. Its also the cheapest option.
