I got this 01 cobra about a month ago.upgraded from a 99 gt and i wasnt used to the short throw shifter.Anyways i try to accelarate a bit but alot of the times it grinds going into 3rd.Then a few other times i would shift into 5th and as i stepd on the gas it was making a lil rattling noise from the bottom of the car.do i need a new clutch?something wrong with the tranny?

There was an issue with 01 cobras that have the tremec 3650, where the input bearing retainer would split and allow the surface that the throw out bearing rides on to separate from the the retainer.

That black sleeve would come loose and not allow proper movement of the clutch. That was wrong with mine before I bought mine and I made the dealership fix it. It's a relatively easy fix, and might as well go ahead and replace the clutch while the trans is out so you'll know that everything is good.
