clean
i hate when people open up their hood and you see is dirst dust and grime. keeping things clean make them last longer. i clean my engine on my truck every once in a while to keep it looking nice plus i have the engine plastics painted to match the truck so i gotta keep it clean.
When my girlfriend bought her 02 Mustang GT they cleaned the engine up real nice but those dealers use a heavy shine product that ends up making the engine so dirty with the dust that catches on it. plus anytime you open the hood and have to touch something your hand gets all slimey. i cleaned that crap off quick. i use meguiars supreme shine and spray the engine plastics down to shine them up. that stuff doesnt get sticky or slimey.

yea thats the main reason i was using dish soap and an old wash mit. all the grim is off now so its pretty easy to keep it clean.
Can you guys give me some advise for cleaning the engine, much other people had told me that is very risky due I can damage some electrical part using water, but how can I do it? I just get my 2000 mustang GT and is all dirt and oily, I have the option to take it to some place to clean but I'm not pretty sure they will take care of electric parts.

For one dont put cold water on a hot engine. Either do this while the engine is running or when the engine is off and cold.
i took my battery out and wrap my battery cables in plastic bags to avoid getting any water on the cables. Whatever you do DO NOT use high pressure water, that will tear **** up quicker than you know and force water into areas it shouldnt go like your heads. Try to avoid your fuse panel and any other electrical components if you can. I have washed my engine out on my truck and other cars many times and never had a problem. just use a slow trickle of water and a degreaser or some soap and a wash mit (old wash mit)

I just go at it with a wet wash cloth and a old tooth brush.
DON'T spray it with a pressure washer or anything high pressure!! What I do is use degreaser on mine once every month. You DON'T want to hot any electronic devises! What I do is use lukewarm water on a running engine that way if something got in my alternator it would just get slung out. Ever heard of steam cleaning a engine? Same thing, they use steam (or for those of us without those tools... water in mist form). 1: Take some the degreaser and spray affected areas making sure not to spray electronics. 2: let degreaser sit for 1-2 minutes. 3: if found that a tire brush with firm brissles works great for scrubbing your areas that need to be cleaned. 4: gently hose off with mist or light pressure (nothing more than what rain would do. It will get you back to that rolled of the lot look. Also, don't get any of the degreaser on your frame. It WILL take the finish off if you aren't careful. The best way for this to work is to follow the steps I've just given you and then mist it all off with the water afterwards. And if you have anymore questions just shoot me a pm and let me know!
