Catalitic converters

I dropping my exhaust on Thursday to put a new head on my 2v and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with just using a steel bar and just punching out the cats. I figure since they will be off I might as well do what I can while I can. Experience please not heresay. I have a tuner to shut the o2 sensors off so that's no biggie. Thanks for the input

If you do it everything basically just falls out in peices. Comes out looking like honeycomb. You will need the tuner to turn rear 02s off though

And if you don't get every bit out, be prepared for very irritating rattles. I'd find a better solution.

A little bit. Mostly you will just gain noise which I like. Make sure you get it all out though. When I did mine me and my buddies basically took a long metal rod with a fat end on it and put it in a drill. Worked like a charm
