CARB approved superchargers for 4.6L 4V 2004

Hi,

New here, but I'm hoping some of the experts on 4.6L 4V engines can help with modifications available to me within the straightjacket of CARB-approved California smog rules.

A little background, which is hopefully not too much of a distraction. I have a 2004 Mercury Marauder, which as you know has essentially the Mach 1 engine. Nothing for this specific car is CARB-approved, it is not a common enough vehicle. However, the rules allow for engine swaps as long as one uses a same year or newer engine and doesn't degrade emissions. I want to clarify I am not posting to ask if this is approvable by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. I have a call into my local BAR referee to discuss this and get the answer straight from the horses mouth. Let's not bother with speculation about California EPA rules. I have read the rules and will run it by the referee before proceeding.

What I would like to ask the Mustang engine upgrade experts in California is: Are any CARB-approved twin-screw supercharger kits available for the Mach 1 engine? Lacking that, I know there are kits approved for the already-supercharged 2004 Cobra, but this might be harder to ask the referee to approve because of the manual transmission (which I don't want to swap), preferring instead to keep the 4R75W I have.

I really would prefer Kenne Bell if possible, about 2.8L size. Again, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

**** California and their ridiculous laws. Lots of people sell everything you need for an eaton swap off the Cobras for about 2500-3500$. I plan on eaton swapping my Mach 1 next year. Since they are in the same year I don't see why they wouldn't allow it, plus if you put all the stuff on for the eaton swap you can put a kennebell or whatever other twin screw you want on instead of the eaton. It would be the same as the cobra engine minus it being higher compression, weaker internals and different block
