Can I restore this gas cap?

Picked it up from a buddy super cheap and thought the black was fading.. But it looks purple.

Any professional way I can get it to be black and say mach 1 ? Thanks!

I don't know of any

Personally I'd take it and get it powder coated black

But that's not gonna make the Mach 1 stand out

But the subtlety would be nice

Powder coating as in covering the mach 1?im not sure if that's what you mean.. But I wouldn't want to cover the mach 1 lettering.

Powder coat the whole purple part to black

It won't fill in the Mach 1 area but it will make the light colored etching in the grooves turn black

Silver Horse Racing had some problems with this in the past because of a vendors anodizing process or something. You might contact them to see if they have a solution to the purpling just as a courtesy for you as a Mustang enthusiast.
