AC Pressure Line
Got any pictures of the problem? I don't think your cold air would have gotten hot enough to melt any AC Lines. If the heat shield was pressed against it, then maybe it rubbed against it too much and broke through it.
If you have a k&n I know exactly what you're talking about... you rubbed a hole in the aluminum line. It can be repaired, but you really need to have the system evacuated. I cut the line where the factory orifice tube was installed (you'll see a crimp in the line) and installed a replacement orifice housing. It uses compression fittings and was long enough to cover the damaged portion. I replaced the refrigerant oil and refrigerant with no hang-ups. Hope this helps. Oh by the way I purchased the parts from O'Reilly auto. You can find the parts in the Murray catalog. They were off the shelf items, and in stock. A good parts person should be able to help you out...
