8.8 rear end

Was wondering. Working on a 8.8 on a mach 1. The stock carrier shims are cast metal P.O.S. I got some new ones at a local shop but they are stackable shims. Would this make a difference.

Which shims are you talking about? The shims that center the carrier from side to side? I dont see a problem with either one if thats the case. You can replace the crush sleeve (pinion shim) with a solid spacer, but you'll have to measure and shim it for proper preload on the pinion bearing.

Are they really that big of a p.o.s? You might have just given me a viable reason to put new gears in my Mustang
