hey guys im doing a 3.8 to 5.0 swap just got the motor and computer &harness, but mine is a 1997 so if this section can help me great,my question is i was told that my new 5.0 motor will bolt up to the 3.8 trans but......will not work with the 5.0 computer because it shifts only with the old 3.8 computer... right or wrong? and what can i do to remedie this if so?

I am assuming that you are running an AODE.

I'm sure that if there is a will there is a way, but I do believe that the shift points for the V6 are far off of optimal for a 5.0. What is the intent of the swap? Just curious.

yes it is an AODE trans,and that another thing now that ive bought the 5.0 motor already, the 1/2 and 1/2 verdict is that it might not be the same bolt pattern from the 5.0 to 3.8 trans????? but the intent of the swap is because the v6 just blew a headgasket so instead of rebuilding we were hoping to do this cause she always wanted a 5.0 anyway and dont get me wrong im very mechanically inclined and can follow directions to a T but thats what im having a hard time with is getting a solid set of directions? if the 5.0 will bolt to the 3.8 trans? will the 5.0 computer shift it? i think i got everything else pretty close a bigger radiator,motor mounts, wiring harness from the 5.0 and so on just need to know if this trans will work with that motor and if not, i dont know from there thnx and keep em coming as i said i learn something new from every post. bb

I wish I could say for sure, but what I can say is that the t-5 from 94-04 V6's will bolt to the 5.0 with no problem. I just can't say anything for the AODE.

ok im pretty sure i have the aode trans but how do i know for sure what can i compare? thnx bb
