1999 Ford Mustang GT: First Drive

Just thought this was kinda fun to read. Found it earlier today.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._gt/index.html

God I love my car. One question though, did all 99's come with traction control or was it an option? Cause My sisters boyfriend has a 2004 and has got the button to turn his TC on or off. Only reason I ask, is cause I have no idea if my car has it. Ha yea kinda sad. Thanks guys

Slalom and skidpad figures closed in on those of the more sophisticated (and expensive!) Cobra at 66.8 mph and 0.86 g, respectively, with the independent rear suspended Cobra turning in 67.8 mph and 0.88 g. Viewed in this way, the SVT superpony seems hardly worth the extra $7000.
Not bad at all....

I believe also in 2004 Traction Control went to being an option instead of standard on the GT. I've seen a few 04 GT's with blanks where the TC button is.

This was a trip down memory lane. It's hard to imagine how quickly cars have evolved in such a short time. I remember when my cousin took me for a spin in his (then new) 99' GT and how fast it felt to my 97' GT. Now 260HP isn't even a big deal! That same cousin now also has a V6 Camry with 270HP! It's kinda funny, after driving both cars the Camry is just about as fast. So I can't wait for the next gen stangs pumping out 400HP!

i believe T/C was an option that came with antilock brakes. if you got antilock brakes you also had to pay for T/C and you couldnt get T/C without antilock brakes.
