Anyone here know what kind of HP and TQ I lost going from my old 95 T-Bird (V8) to the 2004 V6? It doesn't seem as peppy, but I bet it does, I am just not driving it like I used to drive the T-Bird (hahah, I care about my new one).

I wouldn't think the power loss is that great, the 1995 engines were not powerful, the V6 only put out 130bhp then compared to 193 now. I think the V8's were about 200 hp back then.

With the wear and tear, most likely you gained some.

From what I've seen it looks like your T-Bird had about 205-215 HP...unless it was a supercoupe which was 230HP. Either way you gave up very little and got a sweet ride in return! As mentioned though, with wear and tear you're probably doing a little better than the T-Bird in the HP department right now

The ol' T-Bird also weighed a bit more as well. Give the new car time to break in.

i think the V8 tbirds were only rated at 215. in 95 they had the 4.6 right??? if not i think the 5.0 was only rated at like 190. b/c it was not the HO version like the stang. the stang might not have as much down low b/c of torque loss. but in the 1/4 the stang would win

I think the 230HP was a V8 as well? I didn't have the super coupe...so, I was @ 205...cool, so once the breakend comes into effect, I should have that T-Bird then! WOOHOO!

The 230 hp version was the Super Coupe. It had a supercharged 3.8 V-6, and was the only one available with a stick.

Ironically, Motor Trend they tested the Mazda 6, it lost some time and increased braking distance.

So that car lost speed when it got older.
