Lately, my car has a habit of going nutreal when I press on the gas (does happen pretty often now). The car goes into nutreal hits about 5,000 rpms then accelerates. Its been happening to me more than usual. Could this be a sign of the trasmission possibly messing up? Keep in mind that the car is an automatic.

Sorry to say, but it certainly sounds like it. My father in law had the same problem in his T-bird a couple of months ago, he had to get the tranny rebuilt..... :bang:

Rebuild or replace. The tranny has a "gate" that closes to hold it in the drive gear (this gate is opened when you depress the button on the shifter allowing you to engage drive, or lower gearings). Eventually the gear wears out allowing it to slip out and into Neutral. It probably does it on acceleration becuase of the pressure exerted to the gate.
