As a wedding present, my brother in law changed the system in my wife's convertible (a Mach 460) for a custom built one. Now I have the Mach at my disposal and would like to install it on my car. I still haven't seen what was removed from the Mach, but I know for a fact that I will need the speaker covers that are mounted on the window corners (I would like to get the exact same ones so I ayone can point me in the right direction). Does anyone have list of everything included in the Mach 460 system so I can compare it to what I have and figure out what I need? Did it come with amps and/or a base? Can ayone tell me where I could find info on how to take off the factory stereo on my car and install the Mach? If I do this myself will I void my warranty? Thanks for the help guys

one thing you are going to have problems with, there is alot of wireing that is included with the mach460 system that is not present with the regular. For instance you have 3 amps. One under the dash, 2 under the back deck and a simulated sub box for teh back 5x7 speakers. I think you'll be better off going with an aftermarket headunit and putting in your own better speakers. But i understand getting it for free.

I am not afraid of doing the work, the wiring should be easy if I could get my hands on the wiring diagram (a BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Computer Engineering should come in handy for once ) but I am concerned about voiding my warranty (I still got two more years on it)

Ok, the only thing returned by the shop was 8 speakers and the stereo/CD changer. There were no amps nor sub box The thing is, my wife's convertible had two sub boxes and two huge amps installed. Did my brother in law get hosed? Any one got a pic of the Mach 460 amps and sub box?

they probably reused the sub box for the rear speakers (its not a real sub box, just a place to keep the speakers), and left the amps all in place. or they may be reusing the amps.

I don't think the car has 5 amps and 3 sub boxes. The sound is very nice, but not that nice. The two new amps are pretty much doing all the work

I called the dealer where my wife bought her car and they said the Mach 460 has 2 amps, 2 sub wufs, and eight speakers. The shop that installed the custom system said they left in the two subs and two amps. Is there a way I can confirm this?

i'll be honest, i've never tried to adapt a mach460 into a non-mach460 stereo. First thing I guess i'd start looking at is what all parts you have and what type wiring harness's you have and if they hook up to the parts you have.

Just so I understand ... at this point you just want to hook up the Mach 460 headunit into your current setup?

If that's the case, I really can't help at all, but I can try and search and see if another site as a harness diagram.

Thanks for the tip. I found a nice article that says I'm pretty much screwed since the Mach 460 uses 4 6"x8" for bass and mid bass, and 4 tweeters for the highs. Thanks to this peculiar set up its not cool to mess with the Mach 460

I guess I'll have to go to an audio shop to see if they can help me
