Requesting assistance on a part.

I recently purchased a 2000 convertible V6 mustang. Long story short, the dealership promised to replace the top, now they are saying they will write me a check for this replacement part that I will then need to order:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang-Convertible-Top-Replacement-Factory-Style-With-Heated-Glass-1994-04-/261047739885?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2000%7CMake%3AFord%7CModel%3AMustang&hash=item3cc7a865ed&vxp=mtr
This looks like a replacement top to me, however I don't not want to fully agree without KNOWING this is the proper piece. They original were going to order it, now randomly want to just shove responsibility to me. Which raises my suspicions with the way this whole transaction as gone. I will be the first to admit that I am ignorant when it comes to cars and car parts. I learn from being in the situation (Breaks, tuneups, ect). Never having been in this situation, I am not 100% certain that I am in fact reading this properly and that there isn't a fine print I am mis-reading or overlooking.

The top motor appears to operate perfectly fine, I just have 4 holes (2 by the glass defroster back panel corners, and 2 on either side near the rear windows) that allow leakage.

If anyone could see a reason why this top would NOT work I would be much appreciative. Or fully confirm that it will.

There is no way I would let them replace it with a cheap eBay part I would make them replace it with a OEM part and it really sucks changing tops so I would also make them pay for a shop to do the work

unfortunately the dealership I purchased from turned out to be sleezy. Friend of mine works there, so I thought I would be fine. It was my first car purchase. The salesman promised off the bat that it was A Okay, they would replace the top and everything would be perfect. Their systems were down (Comcast, cable provider here, had a problem with their cable box, but insisted it was their modem/router, and after almost a week they fixed it). So at this point I had had the car about a week driving it. I got the dealership to put it in writing they were fixing the top. I was doing financing so first I had to sign the contract with the bank for the check to then do the paperwork at the dealership (At least what they told me, I don't believe that to be true now. But I don't know). When I went into the dealership after signing the bank paperwork they tried to tell me they would "Comp me 50 dollars" for the repair - I had already called around and learned it was not economical for repair and that it was notorious for these convert tops to break. After 3 hours of negotiating, ultimately the signature on the "we will replace the top" gave me the "We will repair the top to resist water leakage". They attempted to put a cap at 50, 100, and then 150. Trying to assure me it was fixable under that pricepoint. Needless to say I signed the contract because I knew it wasn't repairable, and the only way to fulfill their end of the contract was to replace it. And, sure enough, their "Specialist" looks at it and said it was not repairable. So then the guy after a week or so finally says hes ordered the top he found for "220". About a week after that the employee was fired, and we learned he actually hasn't purchased the top. So then the dealership says theyd match 220 and that was it because it was "found for 220". After my friend did some searching he thought he found one, called me in to look it over, and after investigating I discovered it was ONLY the back panel fabric and glass, so I said doesn't work. He then found this one, and said hed talk to the boss to get it ordered, but "He may only do 250 and expect you to get the last 50" I said Im not paying for the top. Id cover the install to try and resolve this, but I am not paying for the top. About a week later he says hes just waiting for the boss so that they can order it. Again, about a week, (being today) he calls and says that they are going to write me a check for 300 and just let me order it myself.

And this is a condensed version of what happened. There was a lot more arguing, fighting, and trying to get out of the top replacement. So, if this top works Its at least replacing whats presently leaking. I only plan on keeping the car long enough to boost my credit enough to make a bigger car purchase.

Ultimately Ive been through a lot of hassle just to get where I am, and I just want this to end. But I want to make sure its a legitimate top, and not missing required components.

I would first get the phone number for the Better Business Bureau than go in and threaten to report them and if that gets nothing done than report them for shady business practices.

Seeing that it is a repair I would threaten with calling BAR ( bureau of automotive repair.) Or call them and explain the situation and I'm sure they will give you answers but if they told me they would repair it and that's what I signed for I would hold them to it. Good luck man
