Hi guys, its been a while since Ive been in, but this morning my car would not start. It has power and when i push the button (i have a push start button) it would make a ratchet sound. To my knowledge i sounds like the starter. What do you guys think? Thanks.

If it turns over it won't be the starter. Have the alternator or battery checked. If you have a volt meter you can test the voltage of each the battery and alternator.

It could be the starter or even maybe the fuel pump... Have someone turn the key and go to the gas tank and see if you hear the bump switch

He said it sounds like a "ratchet". That's the sound the starter makes when there isn't enough battery juice to spin the starter. Have you checked the battery? If it does a rapid clicking sound when you engage the starter then I'd look at the battery first.
