I seem to recall a recent post somewhere on the forum with a link to a ford catalog that included 3.8 and 4.2 engines in various states of tune. I can't find the link now, or the catalog itself. I think these crate 3.8 and 4.2 engines were in the $2000 range.

Anyone with a better recall (or better command of the search button) want to find it?

I got a quote for a V8 replacement recently by accident.. I wanted to know about exhaust v6 single to v8 dual, anyway......the V8 engine was $3645 on it's own, I cannot see the V6 being much cheaper. Why do you need a new engine? mileage?

I found a few web sites that sell remanufactured Mustang V6's. (I haven't dealt with any of them, so I'm not recommending them!)

http://www.used-auto-engines.com/ has a V6 for the 96 for $1558 plus $250 core deposit. Looks like the same people also run http://www.used-auto-transmissions.com/ .

http://www.rebuilt-auto-engines.com/ also has a '96 V6 for $1570 plus $255 core.

Both sites claim that their remanufactured engines are improvements over the stock engines they replace.

http://www.jasperengines.com/index.html sells remanufactured engines and transmissions through local installers. Their '96 V6 is priced at $2547 plus $300 core.
