Depends on the LED lights and setup in question.

For my motorcycle, for visibilty at night, I used the stickyback tape that was on the strips for the ones on the seam of the trunk (it's an oddity of a motorcycle), but sewed them into the seat where I wanted in a particular area. Another, I used tiny tie-wraps to attach them inside the ducts. And finally, I made a little strip of metal to stick them to, so I could mount two different types in between the passenger handle mounts. The last were two 'fog lamp' looking LED setups that I used brass clamps I made myself and mounted them things to that on my forward engine case protectors. They stick out the covers of those.

It looks good at night, you can definitely see her, and it's sort of 'in line' with how the motorcycle's seams and such work. They light up the rear of the bike, the middle, and the front. If you can't see me at night, you don't need to be driving, fools.

But on a Mustang? No. Just... don't. But that's me... and I don't know what you'd be doing that would need LEDs on the outside.

Inside, for footwells and such? Absolutely, go for it.

I really don't think you should put LED's on a mustang ether but hey its your bbe.

Have look at LED Tape it comes in 12v or 24v so you can ring to your car battery. Its also very flexible for curves and you can cut and rejoin it really easy. The website I buy it from is www.led-tape.com but they only sell it in the UK

12v led strip light are much more cost effective than other types of lighting. The upfront cost is a little higher, however the lights last up to 10 times longer than traditional bulbs. This adds up to a massive saving. Furthermore they use a lot less energy when they are in use, and this means that electricity bills are kept at an absolute minimum. In this day and age, saving money on fuel and electricity is led strip 12v extremely important. Few business owners can afford to spend much on utility bills. The low energy nature also means they are a friend and not an enemy to the environment. If everyone in commercial buildings and houses adopted waterproof led strip light as their own, then emissions would be dramatically cut around the world.
