How much weight could be saved?
How much weight could be saved?
Well...with all of these lightweight vehicles available now, I was wondering about how much weight do you think you could take out of our cars. If you were to get rid of the back seat, spare tire and other spare stuff, maybe carpet, and get some lightweight wheels. I'm sure there is other stuff too, but are we talking more than 100 lbs....maybe up to 500? Or is there no chance, and I am better off going on a diet...
Is this for a street car? If so, I doubt it will be worth it. I doubt you would get 100#. And, then, I doubt you would even be able to notice the difference (that is not even the extra weight of 1 friend). Just look with the World Challenge guys do with 100# extra weight, and they can still keep up with other pro drivers.
But, Axis Wheels was able to take out 700# from its "race/drift" 350z. But, that means EVERYTHING -- down to the window actuators, let alone every piece of interior or sound deadening material, etc. So, there is weight to be lost -- but at a huge sacrifice.
