Hood scoop on my V6
Hood scoop on my V6
Right now my crimson '03 V6 doesn't have a hood scoop, but I'm considering installing one. I've got two questions. First, would I need to install an entirely new hood in order to install a hood scoop (I'm guessing I would but want to make sure)? And second, do hood scoops reduce MPG by creating drag, and if so by how much?

Normally you wouldn't need a new hood just for a scoop, but that hood wouldn't go well at all with a scoop. Theoretically, yes...it will create drag and reduce your miles per gallon, but the difference will be very minimal. You probably won't even notice...
Yeah, I'm trying to find a normal hood that I can put a scoop on, but so far the only place I've seen with one is eBay. Every other site I've searched only has random custom hoods or Cobra hoods, and that's not what I want.
