There is another mustang owner on my street (well... one of MANY) who also has a 6-er, and he put authentic Mach 1 rims on it. Fantastic, except when you look straight on to the car, the darn rims stick OUT PAST THE BODY!

It seems that it is about an inch past the fender well, and this has scared me out of buying Mach 1's...

But then, recently, I saw the same thing happen to a v-6 with normal Bullitts!

Besides looking wierd because of the way the 6's sit (I have lowered the front end, so I won't have to worry about this), has anyone else experienced this problem? Any tips when I (eventuall) put some REAL rims on my car?

(included is a pic of my car with the stock rims...)

I'm guessing that they are either aftermarket knock-off rims with incorrect offset, or they have wheel spacers put in to make them stick out more. To the best of my knowledge, the GT wheels should work just fine on a V-6.

I had Mach 1 rims on my 2002 V6, and I am pretty sure I didn't have this problem. I can't be completely sure I never noticed it, but I usually pay a lot of attention to detail, so i think I would have. Obviously I can't check now since I traded it in.
