1995 Mustang-Revs To 2000 RPM and stays

My 1995 Mustang 3.8 L revs to 2000rpm and stays when started. when in gear it speeds up on its own and is hard to get stopped. I am suspecting maybe a throttle postion sensor...??

Anyone heard of this or maybe have any ideas let me know.

Throttle Position Sensor and Idle Air Control Valve.

I'm putting my money on the second one for what it's worth...

Very much so. If you go through that whole process step by step you can bypass a lot of that shakiness while you're driving.

I did the same with mine.

I had this happen to my 95 v6. It would rev to 2000 rpm and stay there, it turned out to be the head gasket...again. I know a lot of other people that had head gasket problems with the old 3.8liters, mine was replaced 4 times during the life of the car before I sold it.

Huh, never heard of that before. A good place to ask is sn95forums.com a member on here referred me to it, and every question I have about my car, they have an answer to.

I agree idle air control or throttle position sensor. But make sure you calibrate you tps right when you install the new one
