white convertible top...cleaning

any good tips on cleaning a very dirty white vinyl convertible top...i know i can buy products for this job (some are very $$$)...but as my top is pretty old,and going to be replaced this summer (going black)... im wondering if there's any simple cleaning solutions that will do the job in the mean time?

iv'e googled and come up with...

-shaving cream
-mr clean majic eraser
-bleach (makes me nervous)

any products that you guys have used that work?

ps: what should i expect to pay for new top, installed? (i have glass windows, but it's on white top and would prefer black...could installer reuse window?)

303 makes a vert top cleaner, their web site has a list of local places that carry it.
Def use the 303 protectant on the new one.

-well just tryed mr clean majic eraser...and it works great!...i also found that i got even better results spraying some windex down first (beats me,but it works)...it doesn't get out old discoloured spots, but overall im surprized at how well it went...

Ok this may sound a little extreme but I had a white top on my 87 for 17 years before I had a black one installed.. Comet with bleach cleanser, yes I know, but use a soft scrub brush and rinse often and keep it off your paint as much as possible. You wont believe how bright and white this will make the top look. After the cleaning put a protective treatment on it but once you put it back down in that dirt well it will come back with marks so clean your well too and when the time comes to replace that top.. BLACK is the wat to go, much less maint, ona black top.
