tires or what??
1991 5.0 sedan. running dunlop 225/55/16 tires. i have recently noticed that when backing up and turning the wheels it feels like the steering wheel is moving back & forth. car drives pretty good but sometimes i notice a very slight sise to side motion. have no vibration in steering wheel. is it the tires or is the power steering acting silly?? ideas/comments welcomed pleased.
Never heard of a Mustang 5.0 Sedan before. Perhaps that's the issue.

You might want to check the following:
Steering coupler. The buncha fabric that connects the steering column to the rack's steering shaft.
Tie Rod ends.
Rack.
Kinda doubt it's the tires, it'd be doing it all the time. The fact it does it backing up and turning the wheels indicates the steering more than suspension, although the LCA bushings could also be a culprit. Going forward and straight is 'normal', backing up and turning induces the change in forces that make the geometry of whatever it is screw up... OH. The little frame to LCA rod's bushings, that could be it too.
