Starter help

Can anyone tell me why my stater is grinding never had the problem b4 but sinxe i put a new starter on it makes a horrible grinding noise

Need to put a shim inbetween the starter and the bellhousing. Auto store will have one most likely.

I habv shimed it and still grinding maybe bad starter not shooting the gear all the way out?

Might not have it shimmed it enough. If I'm right the starter won't engage unless the Arm is fully extended.

No problem.

Might take a couple shims to get it far enough back to stop the noise. Good luck

Also are you using a new starter or a remand one?

Shim it, I had a 289 that needed 4 shim plates to engage properly. If you want to know for sure pull back off and try and engage it with jumper leads to see if it is kicking all the way out.
