On the way to work this morning it started riding hot so i pullled over and popped the hood. Smoke was pouring out everywhere lol. Radiator issues suck!!. I didnt want to blow my head gasket but after it sat for a minute i guess there was enough anti freeze to cool the engine down long enough for me to make it to work. So now im stuck at work and i am going to try to fix this on lunch. It seems to be the bottom hose and i am not the do my own work type but i know this is easy enough. Can someone give me some guidance?

 

It's just two hose clamps. They will probably be stuck on because of the heat. Use a hose pick or small screw driver to get the hose off. New lower hose is about $20. However, I would think that the problem is more than a lower hose. (unless it has holes in it and is causing you to be low on antifreeze) Make sure there are no holes in radiator (even small pin holes) and that your rad cap is sealing good. This is a good starting point. Hopefully these small things fix your problem. Let me know how it works out and what you found when you check these small things. If that dosent work, we can move on to the larger problems.

 

PS: the hose attaches to the water pump and lower spout on radiator. When you get a new one on it, I would do a coolant system flush. Have your rad cap open when tstat kicks in to make sure water pump is working.

 

Thanks man..found out what it really is and its not a freakin hose.. Its my water pump!! Now im going to get charged a redic number to get it installed

 

:cool water pumps really not a hard install Shops are greedy.... Get a Chiltons manual and a few tools. You'll have then for "next time"! :good

I've changed my water pump. I'd mark each bolt in a clock pattern. It helps when putting the new one on.

 

My friend may help me do it the shop wants 400 whenni can get the water pump at cost for 31 dollars lol scums i swear!! And thats an awesome ecard lol!! Thamks for the help ill try to remember to mark the bolts

 

Easy fix bro! You can do it. There's nothing to it!!!

 

what he said very easy, others on here or I can help walk you through it. The hardest part is some of the water pump bolts get stuck in the timing cover ( white powder in the threads from the two unlike metals) and can snap. back them out esy and then turn them back in, back them out and then turn them in ( spary them at the same time)..do this over and over w/o alot of force and most of the time they come out. clean all surfaces and reinstall new pump.
