opinions wanted

OK. I am doing a serious tune up on my car and want to clean up the engine and bay some also.
I seek opinions on what color should I paint my intake, as well as that fan shroud up front. Even if I clean the engine bay these parts look rough. So I am considering pulling these items and painting them. White would match obviously but would be tough to keep clean. By the way, I have new Red plug wires to go on it..so there is a little red under the hood to consider along with the white bay.
So, lets hear what ideas everyone has.

What it looks like now.

Ditto on the polish & shroud, but if you're wanting more color, find some red plug wires, maybe throw on a chromed bracket/mount or two. But a good spit-shine alone will do wonders as well

DO NOT paint it red, i saw one last year and it looked absolutely retarded. Black might be cool.

Painted the valve covers & intake plate to match the car. Give you an idea what red would look like.

Those of you suggesting polishing the intake have never tried it or you would not have that idea! That coating is a ***** to get off and polishing is a ton of work(ask me how I know ). For what someone would likely charge you to polish the intake you could be a new Cobra intake. Paint it charcoal grey or black....aluminum paint, red or white would not look good.

I agree about the polish unless you buy it that way. Here is a couple shots of my 87 Gt Vert mainly completely stock and my 89gt which has the cobra upper/lower. Just some ideas...

The crinkle paint idea sounds cool. You have any pics??
I have also put this out on a couple of other forums and everyone seems to say black or flat black. One other mentioned the crinkle paint.

Hey Paul so is the intake coated / painted?

I was told it was just bare and was going to attempt to clean mine with something a little more abrasive but if it is coated then I guess I'll just leave it alone.

This is what it looks like now:

Thats cool, no offense taken. I plan on cleaning what I can and painting what I can to look better. Thanks for the compliment also. I think it looks decent to be an 89 too!
