Indeed a *FEW* quarts... and if you can't find the leak... it's burning the oil or it's in the coolant. Both are bad.
Check compression in the cylinders, but first and foremost, check the coolant. Could be a busted head gasket.
But really, let's say it's two quarts... that's half a quart missing per week... you *should see that* on the ground, if it's a leak. You probably should see that in the exhaust if it was burning, deposits on the tips, for example, or some smoke on takeoff...
And if you're not checking the coolant... well, you sure you have coolant and not just a bunch of oil?!
/hope you find it, seriously.

I'm guessing valve guide seals and rings are bad. When you start it up do you see a cloud of smoke out of the exhaust, or when your your driving along and nail it do you see a cloud of smoke then??

My 88 GT doesn't burn any oil. What the other posters said is correct about what to check. The only thing I'd add is to check the bottom of your car behind the oil pan. It may be possible that your oil is leaking only under pressure and is all over the bottom of your car.
