I have an 89 which had a vortech s/c in it making 6-8psi boost. The s/c was stolen and I wanted to build motor up to 300 RWHP n/a. I was going to run afr 165s, edelbrock intake new cam, Getting block bored .30 over D.S.S. engine kit. Will this do it? I was going to do a 331 stroker but being $700 more I can't justify it at this time. All comments, suggestions welcome.

that should make it easy if you ask me, you might be a little on the short side RWHP to 300 but the afr's should add atleast 60 alone

It depends on your choice of intake, and cam, but yes 300 rwhp is very doable from a .030 over 302, providing you have a 5 speed. Personally, I would go with a trickflow street heat intake, and a e or b cam. I have seen that combo put down over 300 rwhp in a 93 cobra. Striclty boring the engine over wont really give you that big of a hp gain, but your torque should pick up a little.

AFR makes a great head, if you really plan to rev the engine or may eventually return to a power-adder, I'd consider the AFR 185's too, not much of a low speed loss compared to the 165's but much more top end potential IMO.

you should be pretty close. as long as its tuned properly. that should be close to the holley systemax kit. and its rated at 350 flywheel HP which is right around 300 to the wheels
