Not sure where to start but I just bought a 89 GT Vert, 5sp, white/gray exterior, gray cloth interior, and white top. I have never owned a vert before and am looking forward to driving this one. I live in New Mexico and we have great vert weather

I currently have an all original 79 Cobra that is going to have to go away (can't keep both, probably have to change my avitar also). This vert makes my 7th Mustang - 1 1965 - 2 1967's - 2 1969's and the 1979.

Anyway I have only driven this car 2 times and the first thing I noticed was the cowl shake. I am asking for suggetions to help fix this problem? Recommendations on parts and suppliers would really help me at this point.

Thanks for the help!

you're probably just missing the grommets that hold the cowl in place, if i were u, i'd take the cowl off and figure out the problem, then we can point u in the right direction. Either way, www.50resto.com has alot of fox stuff.

The cowl might be broke allowing a peice to flop around. Check to see if its craked anywhere and if it is then you can jb weld it and repaint it or buy a new peice.

Cowl shake is normal for a convertible, especially the older, '93 and before cars. The best way to cure the problem is to stiffen the chassis. By sub-frame connectors and a strut tower brace and you'll probably see a big decrease in the shake.

What Redbaron said. The Fox body is a flexible thing - VERY flexible. Pretty thin in the floorpan area. Cowl shake is to be expected on these models.

The biggest improvements are definitely sub-frame connectors and a tower brace. You will reduce it, but you won't eliminate it on these cars - unless you add enough steel underneath to qualify it as a tank!

Thanks for the advice, do you have any recommendations for these parts?

I have been lurking around here long enough to know this was coming I'm off next wednesday and will try to get her out of storage (the 79 is in the garage, no room for 2 with all the other stuff) and get a couple of good pictures.

Thanks for the help

Maximum Motorsports strut tower brace, K member brace, and sub frame connectors. These three parts will make a HUGE difference.
