its a 90 gt 5.0 5 spd 40k miles on rebuilt motor.
are these good brand parts or not really. anything you guys would replace if it was yours?
how much horsepower do you guys think it has right now, and what would you suggest to do next, heads, intake manifold, cam, etc. my goal for this car is for it to run anywhere from mid 11s to mid 12s. the lower the better but need to stay in reality.
also need to know some good websites for all this stuff. thnx

Right now, I would guess it is putting right around 200 to 210 rwhp to the ground. Next I would do heads, instake and a cam.

Sounds suspiciously like my car... Ill be keepin an eye on this thread, my gears grind into 2nd and 4th on quick shifts too. As for the reverse, i think they all do that no matter what. My cousin has a 95GT with about 50,000 miles on it (babied) and it grinds in reverse too. I heard its something about it having straight cut gears or something?

Try adjusting the clutch. Ours did that and we adjusted the clutch cable and it quit until the cable snapped. When we first got our car we were told to go to fith first then to reverse. I always do that and I have never grinded it. You might also want to check your tranny fluid level.

mine doesnt grind going into any gears and have 102K on it. sounds too me like the clutch isnt releasing fully. with the car off, take the end of your foot put it under the clutch pedal and pull up. you should hear a click. then push the pedal completely to the floor. that takes up some of the slack in the cable. if that doesnt help might need a new cable

I believe that only works with a stock quadrant, he has replaced his with a Maxiumum Motorsports unit. You would then have to adjust the clutch cable using the firewall adjuster.

It does sound like the clutch isn't releasing fully. Is the cable new or is it the Ford unit? That might be one issue to look at. It might be a throw-out bearing too.

SVOPaul is the expert so hopefully he will weigh in on this topic as well.

Sounds like you have a good base to build from. As joker suggested, heads cam and intake are next.
