on this thread I will post updates of the restoration and customization of my 1980 Mustang. (much like Arin's thread) :P

and I have a question... will the 87-93 GT taillights fit on my car?

Jason's Wishlist

dual exhaust headers
true duals (with gutted cats)
maybe 300 I6 upgrade?
better rearend (which is best?)
two barrel carb
high rise intake (or shaker scoop?)
3/4 cam? perhaps?
4 wheel disc/5 lug conversion
18x8.5? deep dish bullits in rear, regular in front?
rear window louvers
better subs/amp
really dark window tint
boss-style stripes?
82 GT hood scoop?
one of Hireman's painted ponies (blinging dash emblem )
black interior
that's all I can think of now...

Yay, someone else with an 80! I look forward to seeing the pix. Yours has the same engine as mine, but it sounds like you got a better colour, hehe.

Thanx John, once I get paid I'm gonna order a set unless someone has a set that they'd trade for the '80 lights...

Arrow

this is the final look I want, sans the decals, flames, cobra ensignia, and different colored wing :P

EDIT: and I want the rear louvers rather than the flag decal... do they make quarter louvers for these 'stangs?

Yes, all 79-93 taillights interchange

NO...actually they DO NOT interchange! 79-82 Taillights have a different mounting than the 83-93 lights which will require you to drill holes and modify the existing holes for the bulbs in your taillight panel.

-79-82 Taillights interchange with the same years..ofcourse they are the same lights

-83-93 Taillights interchange among those years....

If you want to install 83-93 lights in your 79-82 Mustang then you must be prepared to do the modifications to MAKE them fit and don't expect to have an air tight seal because you won't have one with the cutting you will have to do to make them fit. Once installed you won't see any difference because the modifications are hidden.

I knew I read somewhere a while ago that the early foxes did indeed have different tailight mountings but I couldn't find where I read it so I didn't post anything...

Good luck . .car looks good and pretty straight! I'd keep the stock taillights, if it were me . .I too like them.

Best I can tell they don't make a specific set of sequentials for your year. Altough I would wonder about the 1965 set located

They might work?
