Thumbs up

I have an 5.0 that is not running and the intake has been completely removed right down to the actual manifold that sits on top of the engine. I am removing the engine and transmission to put in another one. Is there a way to release the fuel pressure without running the car? Chiltons says you need to engage the switch in the trunk and then run the car until it runs out of fuel but I cannot do that. Any suggestions?

I just replaced the fuel filter in my 92 5.0, my service manual suggested relieving the fuel pressure which made me believe that there would be a tremendous amount of pressure. I didnt feel like dissconnecting the inertia swictch in the trunk and letting it run out of gas so I went ahead and dissconneted lines at the filter, there was a minimal amount of pressure and not that much of a mess at all. I would say just disconnect a the line wherever its convenient, dont think you'll have any problems .

If the entire intake is already off, then you had to remove the fuel rails already, so there really shouldnt be any significant pressure.

If you pull off a fuel line somewhere immediately after shutting the car off, then yes there is a decent mount of pressure built up. However, if you let the car sit for a few hours, then the system looses pressure anyways.
