Simple...........Quit Smoking!! Sorry, But I could'nt resist the urge!!!

Got any pictures of the assembly?? I thought it just dropped into the console
where the drink holder is as part of the smokers kit, Personally I never smoke
in my car so I don't haveI one in my stang.. so I would'nt really know what one
looked like..Post some picts please.

I was messing around there the other day, and I had to take off the black shifter panel, then there were a couple screws under there, and the console top popped up. You can't get it out/up all the way, cause it's attached to the console/armrest. It was enough room to mess with the ash tray cover though. I think all you should have to do it replace the spring. Mines broken too, but I put a useless cup holder there instead. I think they only cost $6-7. The previous owner put velcro on the cover to keep it closed, and I haven't been able to get all of the residue off yet.

Pretty much every mustang place has them. They just drop in, but I can't use it much because if I put anything in it, like a water bottle, it gets in the way of shifting.

I just extend my lighter element out so it 'catches' the door closed... kinda works. That cupholer looks like a cool idea, being i use the space between the parking brake and seat to hold my cups, but I guess I cant use the socket if its in there too Notch- try using 'Goo Gone' to get rid of that adhesive mess.

there are websites that sell repair kits, but they never really work too well You might as well use one of those cup holder assemblys, but for the most part that will make it a pain if you are shifting into 2nd gear with a manual transmission.... luckily my ashtray isnt broken
