Hot Rod Lincoln?

Hey all, Fairly new to the forums, (just got my intro in the other day) but this seems like the ideal forum to ask this particular question in... anyways I am lookin for a Fox, I think I may have found one.. from my little my brother's in-laws. They have an '84 LX hatch with a 5.0 goin for $1,000.
havent seen it yet, but am told that it is rust-free, (this IS Oklahoma, but I'll wait & see myself) only two things that concern me, is that it has the 4-bolt pattern (I thought all 5.0's had the 5) and that the engine is actually from a similar yeared Lincoln. I'm told that the original motor snapped it's cam & shelled the thing... it's got a roller cam in it (not that familaiar with em) but they say it's not an H.O. so I'm a little weary about it. Anyone have any onfo/advice? Not in a big hurry, so this isn't a rush situation. I used to have a beater '67 with a 289, but my ex-wife talked me into sellin it... and I long for another 'stang../sigh... but I should have pix incoming before I even go look at it, will share as the become avail.

I believe all foxes were 4 lug. I think only the classics had 4 lug for the 6 cylinders.

SVO's were 5 lug I believe (Paul?) but not 5.0s.

From what I read at stangnet forums not too long ago, one of the biggest deals that makes a H.O. motor is the firing order, something about its the best firing order you can have for a V8 and it makes more power and is more effcient or something. It also has a hydraulic roller cam and lifters but NOT roller rockers.
I don't know if the cam is more agressive than non-H.O. motors so maybe Paul or someone else can chime in about that.

The stock heads in an '84 Mustang with a factory 5.0 are different than an '87 and up 5.0 Mustang which had E7TE heads so an '84 Lincoln might even have different heads yet.

I had an '84 Lincoln Towncar with a 5.0, it was a nice car, but nothing like a 5.0 Mustang.

Did the regular 93 cobras still have drum brakes, in the reare? I know the Rs didnt, but i wasnt sure about the cobras.

As for the lincoln motor, you can get a H.O. cam and put it in there, and then the shortblock will be the same as a 5.0, then change the firing order, and the heads, and you should pretty much be there, except for the efi....

Yes, the 87-88 Turbo Coupe rear discs are identical to the '93 Cobra....just like the SVO rear discs came from the Lincoln Mark VII. Ford often goes to the parts bin to save on tooling costs.
