There is a high chance that you have an aftermarket throttle cable, it may not be that it is streched but they are not of the same qaulity has a "Ford" cable and can cause problems. Also other things to check TB spring and cable bracket, make sure it isn't bent and teh cable is mounted tight.

You can take up some of the slack by using zip ties or plastic spacers between the cable end and the throttle pedal. take care in doing this because you can make the throttle touchy after.

Note in the pic that the zip ties or spacer would go between the very top of the gas pedal and the green end on the throttle cable to take up teh space.

Remember do this mod with the zip ties/spacers to the throttle cable at your own risk.

Yeah th tb spring looks good i have to check the bracket. Im pretty sure its an aftermarket cable because the tb is an aftermarket. Is there anyway i can pull back the cable and tighten it from under the hood? Its gonna be a real pain to get to the cable on the pedal. Thank you so much for the help!!!!!

All I can tell you is make sure you have the correct year Factory Ford throttle cable.

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...Throttle-Cable

The factory bracket and that it isn't bent and you should be good. The end of the cable snaps into the TB blade so it can pull it open ( you can see the barb in the pic the cable snaps onto..

it doesn't matter that you have an aftermarket TB the factory cable will work ( I have a larger TB with factory cable). The cable then snaps into the bracket and then is routed from teh back of the motor thru the fire wall and then connected to the pedal.

The length is factory set it should be plug and play unless it is streched, routed wrong, in the wrong bracket. bent bracket or bracket set up changed IE now carb set up,other intake set up or the wrong year cable/cheap aftermarket would be the only reasons I can think of for any issues.

How low does your pedal sit? Mine sits almost to the floor and gets caught on the carpet sometimes.and theres also tons of play. It swings foward and back. im going to see if i can just get a new one installed. How much do you think that will run me? Sorry for all the questions guys but Im highly grateful for the help!!

It shouldn't be that loose. Do as skunk said first and check your bracket, mounting position, etc. A new cable shouldn't be that much on American Muscle. If you get a Chiltons repair manual, it will have the install procedure in it. (Chiltons manual will be one of your best friends anyhow)

actually one of the best books to have on the mustang is the Ford factory service manuals. you can get them on ebay but they have every square inch of the car, better step by step procedures and diagrams, blow chiltons/haynes away. it doesn't matter where you get the cable just make sure it is OEM ford. some parts are okay aftermarket wise but some parts like the clutch cable for instance, the OEM cable works like butter and last for years but the down side it isn't cheap. The aftermarket clutch cables ( 99% of them) creak, stretch and snap but are cheaper. best of luck, let us know how make out.
