Farewell to my 7up Fox...

My '90 7up convertible just left with her new owner heading for Nashville, TN....

I hated to sell but it just sat in my showroom for the past 6 months having not been driven and I didn't want to see it turn into furniture. My wife's replacement convertible is under construction and the deal was if she kept the '96 GT I picked up that something had to go. It really hadn't been for sale or listed anywhere, just word of mouth.

It doesn't really hurt...it's bittersweet....sad to see it go on one hand but glad on the other. It wasn't being driven and I hated to see it sit around. I've owned it since 2000 and restored it, at least it went to someone who will appreciate it (which is why I never advertised it).

The problem is that I can't keep them all so I enjoyed it for a while and now I can focus more on one of my many other projects.

Hum my son is still only 10 yrs old so I guess I'll have to hang on to him a while longer. After a while it will be ok you will hardly think of her in time, and next month I'll be going through the same thing when I part with my 05-GT that run's so sweet I hate to give her up !

Well a child and a car are two completely different things .

But I just picked up a '69 Mach 1 a month ago so I've still got my hands full of projects....but my early fastback collection is complete now.....that is until I find a '66,'68 or '70....then I'll have to have the whole set .

7-Up contacted Ford about making a green and white Mustang convertible for an ad campaign, and Ford made several matching cars for public sale. The ad deal fell through before it started, but the green cars ran off the assembly line anyway. I think they were labeled as 25th Anniversary models.

I've always wondered why we had the "Spot" smiley here.

Yeah, 7up was going to give away something like 25 cars at college basketball games in a half court free throw contest but backed out at the last minute. Ford was under tremendous pressure from the buying public for not having a 25th anniversary edition Mustang so they made these cars the official 25th anniversary model. Every car from April 17th(I believe) 1989 to April 17th of 1990 had the "25 years" badge on the dash but that did not make them a "25th anniversary edition"...it was these cars produced at just over 4,000 cars that were the official 25th editions. The reason you never see any publications is because brochures are made well in advance of the model and this decision was late so there was no literature on this model. This is also why there are actual 2000 Cobra dealer brochures but no actual 2000 Cobras made...the brochures were printed long before the car so when they cancelled the 2000 Cobra there were no cars but there were brochures available .

The 7up convertibles are the ONLY Fox mustang ever made with a white dash and white console...the later green verts had grey dash and consoles. They also had the GT turbine wheels and body color side moldings (the rest of the cars at the time had black side moldings).

I hope it went to a good home and an owner that will take care of it... It looks like a really nice car.

I would love a 69 Mach 1. I know a friend of a friend who has one and he is letting it turn to crap, all seals are busted, brakes going, windows out of tracks, BUT.... the interior is immaculate!!!! Want to offer him a chunk to take it of his hands and restore it.
