89 5.0HO efi to carb

Hi,

This is my first time posting. I have been searching all over for information on taking an 89 5.0HO and building it carburated...For one is this possible? And another which type of ignition system will work with an 89 block? Another is if this is possible...which combination of Edelbrock inake and carb would work...If anyone has any information that would be great..or any links that would help me out...

Sure it's possible but WHY?!? You are going backwards by doing that conversion.

You would have to change the fuel lines, fuel tank, change the distributor, modify the wiring harness, change timing cover or run an electric lower pressure fuel pump, etc, etc.

I understand I'd have to change fuel lines, gas tank etc....Actually the block is out of an 89 Mustang GT but the engine is going into a 91 Ford Ranger. So you can see I already have alot of work going into this.

You didn't specify that it was going in a ranger....and since this is a Mustang forum it was assumed you were working on a Mustang.

An engine is an engine...ignition system pretty generic, just buy all the carb related parts...intake, distributor etc and go from there. That swap has been done about a thousand times so I am sure that someone out there on the web has the swap detailed on a web site somewhere.

I know I didn't specify that it was going into a ranger. And yes I know this is a Mustang forum, but I figured this would be the best source for anything on an engine that came out of a mustang
