I saw a couple of notches in MMFF back around October that are kind of what I would like to do with my car. They were both street legal yet they ran in the mid 11's. I have the article at home, wish I could give you a little more info.

I have the article. Did you want to do a 408 stroker with yours or a 302 or a 306?
I would get a 4 inch cowl hood from one of the race only places, so it will have a bubble effect and not look like a rectangle with a ramp in front of it. What is your budget if you were to do this? if you have like 3 grand, you could have a nice 12 second car......

If you want something still streetable yet you can take to the track and run mid 11's. You need to do a 347 stroker with 150 shot.

If you have a 347 AND a 150 shot on it and ONLY run 11's you have done something wrong. A properly built naturally aspirated 347 can run in the 11's.

A friend of mine was running 11's with a 170K mile stock hyperuplastic bottom end with AFR heads and Nitrous....

Nitrous is great, but where are you gonna fill the bottle, and you have to fill it alot. There is not many places to fill nitrous in NY.

Yup that's the article I was talking about. I wish I could do a 408 stroker but I don't know if I could afford it. I may just do what I can with the 302 thats there. I already have the 4" cowl hood, it was on there when I bought the car. My budget is probably a few thousand bucks but definatly spread out over time, maybe a year to two years.
Ideally, I will take that car of the road and get a nice beater to drive during the winters. That engine has 140,000 miles on it so I think it would need a basic overhaul first.

Here is a picture of my car:

Forgot to mention, I would rather run naturally aspired than be on the bottle.

Welds, 4 cylinder springs, and a air bag in the right rear. Then do you want to run with an auto or Standard. Get a TKO from X2C motorsports if running a standard, but if using an automatic, a C-4 with a Transbrake would be great...IMO

I thought only automatics could have a transbrake...but I am new to this so probably wrong.
Also, I think I would stick with A/T for the car. I prefer to drive a manual tranny but I have heard that A/T are better for drag racing b/c you can't beat the speed shifts of an auto. That true?

Nope, unless the auto has been built. Get a TKO and speedshift it and you will smoke any stock or near stock automatic tranny. Only a auto can have a Transbrake. WIth a stick, just dump the clutch at the desired rpm. No need for a transbrake.

They did use 3:55 gears and used no C clips. Stronger I believe.

They did use a hardened 31 spline halfshaft in the 03's. Also another thing is the 03 had slightly stiffer spring rates and the addition of Bilstein struts. Paul has a 03 IRS rear end at his shop that I believe is planned to go into a SVO

that IRS would be great for an SVO which is a cornering Focused car. Any drag car or car with 400hp or so that drags wwould not be so good for it but i would be all for it if i wanted to go cornering. If i had a new SALEEN i would put a IRS in it and go road racing.
