Did anybody notice the 05 anthem commercial?
Did anybody notice the 05 anthem commercial?
No respect I tell ya!!!!!!
just about every mustang from 64 to 78 then straight to 05
Its a slap in the face
And this is for your Ford marketing types! And it goes like this
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY BAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKK in like 1984 or something like that, somebody at Fomoco had the guts to stick a holley carb on a limp wristed 302 along with an aluminum intake plus a marine cam I think and voila' Mustang GT and rebirth of the muslcecar era. Fast forward to 1987 and the 225 horse V8 FOXBODY and the everybody wanting this fast cheap (for the times) ride, 5oh's ruled the street and the only game in town was a 5.0 mustang or a Buick Grand National (dorkvettes, slomaros, and fireturds where still heavy and slow, except maybe the anninversery edition V6 Trans-Am and first run Firehawks).
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the 5.0 foxbody did much to keep the flame alive (more so than the Mustang II I'll wager) even if it didn't share a familial resembalnce to the rest of the mustangs of yor.
So why the dis? So far the most bad **** factory stangs have all been fox bodies or the derivative SN95 chassis! But yet, no foxbody or SN95 in the anthem commercial!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, as usual us Fox-bodes get shafted, despite our cars contributions to the Stang legacy. In fact, since the 05 began getting written up in magazines and newspaper articles, I've noticed some downright venomous comments directed at the Fox. Suddenly the 80's get lumped in with the "performance doldrums" of the Mustang II? Puh-leeze. :nono:
I did see a magazine ad recently that featured the 05 and a late-model Fox standing on two wheels for a 1/4 mile launch. It's not much, but it's something.

there's alot of bashing of Fox Bodies where i live. mostly due to their lack of Family resembelence. i personaly think they're pretty sick (in the good way) if they're modded just rite
I love 86-04 stangs and believe they are the best and they shouldn't be left out. I bet a stock 83 lx hatch would smoke a stock 05 due to the 05s weight. Maybe not in the qaurter mile but probably on tracks. I like the 03 cobra and 86,89,95 cobra, and saleen S351 of 99 and 98, and the 04 mystic cobras.
I noticed that the foxes get little to no respect anymore. It's a shame, but I still love taking people for rides in a car that they think is a "80's Turd." I've taken more than a few ricers to 100mph in the time it takes them to do 60!
Also, another thing that people don't realize that by sheer numbers, the 88 was the best selling stang since the intro years....hmmm.....
211,000 I believe.

my theory on why the foxes weren't shown is because they have the least resemblance to them

), and did alot to keep the Mustang alive for years. The maintenance on these pups is next to nothing when compared to a 65-78. Most early classic guys are fighting amongst themselves regarding upgrades, disk brakes, perfect paint, what goes, what dont go, and other such stuff. In the meantime, I'm having a blast exercising my right foot in a stock vehicle.Besides, the early year Ponies still need the 5.0 fox carcasses to pull transmissions from... :worship:

he also "heard it" if you know what I mean.
Yah I hear ya! They turn a lot of heads with the sound of the ol 302! I had a guy that builds only Chevys tell me that you can't beat the sound of flowmasters on the 5 liter..... sweet!

Seems a shame to omit it though, the fox cars are crucial to the mustangs longevity as a car line.
